Haematology and Oncology Day Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our dynamic and fast paced Haematology Day Unit Team.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, with a genuine interest in haematological conditions including haematological malignancies, who are willing to learn and have a desire to develop within their role.

You will be required to manage your own workload as well as becoming an integral part of our established team.

We can offer an array of continuous practice development opportunities such as apheresis training, chemotherapy administration training and a wide variety of specialist clinical skills.

This is a permanent position; the unit opening hours are currently Monday-Friday 0845-1645. Please note this may be subject to chance as the service demands/develops.

Main duties of the job

Supporting patients throughout their treatment journey to manage any symptoms and optimise their holistic well-being. 

Working alongside the multi-disciplinary team to plan, implement and evaluate safe and effective care. 

Recognising and appropriately responding to patients who are acutely unwell.

Gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of clinical test parameters and the appropriate interventions required.

To support students during clinical placements- identifying learning needs and opportunities.

To practice within the scope of the NMC Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates at all times. 

Be prepared to work flexibly and to the needs of the service.
