The Team

You will be joining 2 other Team Managers who will aid you in your new role. The Service Manager is also supportive and encourages collaborative practice.

This is an exciting time for you to join us as we are on a modernisation journey and you will have the opportunity to influence practice and shape improvements.

We are looking for someone who has experience of social work and who can lead through change.

The Role

As a manager you will provide supervision and opportunities for your team, as well as being responsible for the allocation of casework and actively managing caseloads so that our practitioners are able to do the quality work that they want to. Experience of managing teams and/or supervising social workers is required for this role.

As part of this role you will also:

  • Oversee the review and approval of foster carers
  • Ensure foster carers and the service as a whole is compliant with fostering legislation, standards and expectations
  • Work with your team and other parts of the service to support foster carers to deliver great outcomes for Looked After children and young people
  • Your primary focus will be on the team you manage, but there may be opportunities to work in other areas of the fostering service. You may also be asked to work in areas of need; stepping into other roles to support a service area or team in need. A broad understanding of the service will be developed through your induction training.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence, and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car (exceptions can be made for disabled applicants).

For a full list of the role requirements please see the attached Job Profile.

    Working pattern

We work in a flexible, hybrid way, usually 08:45 to 17:15, but there may be times when you will be required more flexibly to ensure our foster carers and our children and young people are supported and in appropriate foster placements.

Peer-support and manager-support is needed and so some office working is usual. It helps to be together to improve our response to children and foster carers.

  • Ongoing training and career development
  • Excellent pension scheme
  • A range of family friendly polices, including flexible working and working from home
