About the role

Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Plant Mechanical Engineer to join our team to work in Coleshill, Birmingham.

Role Purpose:

To carry out the repairs and maintenance on the Earthworks machine fleet.

What you’ll be doing

  • Ensure all operations conducted in line with the minimum Balfour Beatty H&S standards
  • Test the machines after repairs or maintenance to ensure proper performance and compliance with BBVJV specifications
  • Repair and replace damaged and worn parts and record on worksheet
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs
  • Dismantle and reassemble fleet machines using the appropriate machinery
  • Understand operating manuals and schematics
  • Test machines to ensure operating efficiency
  • Weld or solder broken parts using the appropriate machinery
  • Assist direct workers who are carrying out repairs and / or maintenance work when required
  • Test the machines after repairs or maintenance to ensure proper performance and compliance with BBVJV specifications
  • Who we’re looking for

  • Appropriate CPCS Qualification
  • Knowledge of plant / asset hire industry
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Management
  • Extensive knowledge of the Earthmoving industry
  • Experience working on a construction site
  • NVQ Qualification in Construction Plant or Machinery Maintenance (NVQ level 2/3) or equivalent
  • Experience in conducting repairs and maintenance on heavy machinery
  • Commercially aware of budgets and able to work within monthly budget
