This is an exciting opportunity to join our Bank team and use your specialist skills within our Bladder and Bowel Service. You will be involved in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programmes for individuals.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for conducting clinics, managing a caseload of patients with bladder and bowel dysfunction, and carrying out domiciliary visits. This will include assessing and supporting patients to optimise their quality of life living with a bladder and/or bowel condition, carrying out holistic continence assessments, and advising on self-management programmes and management options.

We also provide ongoing education programmes and support to other healthcare professionals/workers, and promote excellence in continence nursing care.

    Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse with a post registration qualification in Continence
  • Relevant degree / post graduate qualification
  • Teaching qualification at level 3
  • Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of continuous professional development in continence in relevant subject at Level 2 or Level 3
  • Experience
    Essential criteria

  • 2 years post registration experience
  • Relevant and recent clinical experience (e.g. continence, urology, gynaecology, bowel care)
  • Desirable criteria

    Essential criteria

  • Evidence of ability to monitor and maintain standards of care
  • Competent computer skills and ability to utilise information and information technology
  • Ability to plan educational programmes
  • Ability to assess competence in relevant areas of practice

  • Ability to promote the understanding of the public health role of the continence specialist nurse
  • Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
