Summary of the role/position

The University of Exeter Sequencing Facility Lab, part of the College of Life and Environmental Science is looking to employ a Junior Technician to assist with the running of the sequencing lab. You will join a team working with academics, industry, and external collaborators on grant funded, collaborative and commercial projects.

You will assist with library preparation and sequencing of DNA and RNA and using project specific protocols for long and short read technologies. You must be capable of developing health and safety protocols and providing appropriate risk assessments. You will be required to work with the team to ensure analytical infrastructure (such as Novaseq, MiSeq, MinION, PromethION, liquid handling robots and qPCR instruments) are maintained and correctly used.

You should have good data management skills and be capable of generating scientific reports as required and giving presentations were relevant.

Whilst, your core remit will be to support major grant funded projects, the University of Exeter Sequencing Facility believes in personal development and you will be given time to develop protocols in order to further the facility objectives.
