Technical Services

This full-time, permanent post is available immediately in Technical Services, within the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.

You will primarily support the second-floor Bioscience research laboratories based in the Geoffrey Pope building on the Streatham campus. It is a great opportunity to gain skills, manage staff and be a part of a thriving community in a busy and complex research environment.

The second-floor laboratories cover a range of biological areas including molecular biology, plant pathogens, cell culture, cell biology, microbiology, physiological and biochemical analyses, analytical chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry and various microscopy techniques. We also support DEFRA work, provide Health and Safety advice, arrange equipment maintenance, order laboratory consumables and equipment and are familiar with key equipment within the laboratory (training can be provided).

We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills, who has experience in providing professional technical support to staff and research students in a laboratory environment. You will work as part of a team, as well as work independently, and use your initiative to tackle any problems, whilst having the confidence to work collaboratively with technical staff in the Geoffrey Pope building plus other teams, both within Biosciences and across the University.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.

This role may be subject to additional background screening.
