The Role

Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists have a wonderful opportunity for a Rotating Intern to join their large multidisciplinary specialist team, where you will be working to the highest standards.

You will rotate between Anaesthesia, Internal Medicine/Oncology Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurology, Diagnostic Imagery, Cardiology and the out-of-hours service, over a twelve-month period. A structured program of teaching, including induction, seminars, journal clubs and presentations is provided. Interns are also encouraged to prepare and publish scientific research during their internship.

Normal hospital working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:30pm. This is a full-time position, with hours varying week to week. The rota will include covering some weekday, night and weekend on calls.

Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a specialist-led, referral-only hospital in the New Forest. Applications are invited from veterinary surgeons to join our team of fourteen interns, who will play a key role in the management, monitoring and treatment of our patients.

About the Team and Culture

Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is made up of 20 specialists, 8 residency-trained clinicians, 13 residents and over 70 nurses. The hospital is extremely well equipped, with major expansion plans to complete within the next 18 months.

Applicant Requirements

To be successful you should be a member of the RCVS and have excellent communication skills. You must have previous experience in a small animal practice.
