Main duties of the job

The Trainee Nurse Colposcopist will be required to undertake a trainer-led, competency based structured training programme in diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy, accredited by the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP

Upon Successful completion of the training programme the trainee will be awarded the RCOG/ BSCCP Certificate in Colposcopy (Diagnostic) and RCOG/BSCCP Certificate in Colposcopy (Therapeutic).
The accredited post holder:
1. Is a highly specialised nurse practitioner who is a British Society for
Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) accredited colposcopist.
2. Is committed to maintaining and improving the quality of care for women referred for Colposcopy in line with Cervical Screening Wales (CSW) Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.
3. Will manage his/her own caseload, providing an autonomous nursing service and undertake independent nurse led diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy
clinics using advanced clinical judgement and extensive knowledge of the speciality.
4. The post holder will be required to interpret and analyse complex clinical and non-clinical facts, to facilitate the formulation of accurate diagnosis and
recommendation of best course of intervention.
5. Will provide expert clinical advice and professional leadership for the nursing team, which inspires, motivates and empowers
