Salary: Grade H3 (£38,587- £50,296) per annum, plus £2,166 London Weighting per annum

Within the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (CHMLS), the Department of Life Sciences has a focus on world-leading scientific research, which underpins our high-quality research-led teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Biosciences, Environmental Sciences, Psychology, and Sport Health and Exercise Sciences. The Division of Biosciences runs a suite of BSc programmes in Biomedical Sciences and Life Sciences, as well as an MSc in Disease Mechanisms and Therapeutics. 

As part of a commitment to strategic growth within the Division of Biosciences and the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, we are looking for a proactive, motivated and dynamic academic to contribute to its ongoing success. We are inviting applications to this newly created position to build on and complement our existing strengths across teaching, research and employability.

We are seeking candidates with expertise in experimental endocrinology and metabolism. A research programme linked to cancer (hormonal and/or rare cancers), endocrine disorders and/or chronic diseases associated with ageing would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have a portfolio of experimental approaches such as: molecular methods, models of human tissues or in vitro/in vivo models of disease.

Highly motivated individuals with a doctoral degree in a relevant field with preference for a background in endocrinology, toxicology or pharmacology are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be supported by substantial experience at postdoctoral or equivalent industrial level, with a proven research track-record, demonstrated through high quality outputs that will contribute to our upcoming UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission. They will also demonstrate evidence of commitment to high-quality teaching and teaching expertise.

An appointment at Lecturer level will be subject to a 2-year probationary period followed by a 2-year development period. If the post-holder meets probationary and development targets, they will have the opportunity to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer after 4 years.
