About the project

Highways England have awarded Costain the M6 J21a-26 Smart Motorway scheme. Under the contract Costain will design and deliver the smart motorway scheme across a 16km length of the M6 to increase capacity and improve journey reliability on this strategic highway. The scheme will involve the installation of road-side technology and new infrastructure focused on improving the driver experience.

Key responsibilities

• To prepare weekly reports on programme and progress, providing input into the monthly programme submissions

• Update progress and production of variance reports as required including critical path and earned value analysis

• Assist in the management of change in regards of impact on programmes and progress

• To prepare comprehensive site layout sequences, and presentations as necessary

• Working collaboratively with the delivery team in the production and reporting of the programme and maintaining a good working relationship with them

• Running collaborative planning workshops, the project primarily uses 3 software packages:

o Primavera P6 – experience essential

o TILOS – experience desirable

o Aphex Planner (for short term stage planning)

About you

Essential

• Excellent P6 skills including resourcing and cost loading

• Knowledge of NEC 4 Contracts

• Experience of working closely with supply chain

• Ability to work consistently to deadlines

• Excellent monitoring and reporting skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Adapts well to a changing environment

• Demonstrates required behaviours to align to project and team objectives

• Champions and develops collaborative behaviours

Desirable

• An engineering / site based background

• Experience of TILOS

• HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering

• CSCS Managers Card or similar level
