About the role

Balfour Beatty VINCI is recruiting for Section Engineers, working on HS2 based at our Cappers Lane office in Lichfield

We have opportunities for Section Engineers with experience on major earthworks, drainage, roads or structures including bridges and viaducts.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing and raising Temporary Works Briefs, following up to ensure timely implementation
  • Completing Accident Book and associated reports as required, undertaking incident investigations to required standard when needed
  • Undertaking and mentoring junior staff in safety audits
  • Carrying out complex setting out and mentoring and coaching junior engineers in the use of setting out techniques
  • Producing Activity Control Plans / Inspection and Test Plans and obtaining approval
  • Identifying, raising and actioning Non-Conformance Reports and Technical Queries with possible solutions.
  • Communicating weekly programme targets to the workforce and liaising with subcontractors to ensure works undertaken in line with weekly programme
  • Collating Weekly Measure information and monitors wastage against budget allowances / KPI’s
  • Identifying items of additional work and raises the necessary notifications
  • Who we’re looking for

  • Previous work experience as a Site/Section Engineer
  • A formal qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE)
  • Experience working on projects in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage
