Our fantastic Theatre Recovery team are looking for enthusiastic Nurses or Practitioners to join us here at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Homerton is a great place to work, with many opportunities for skill acquisition and career development.

You will have the chance to work as part of a dedicated and high-performing team. Working within the multidisciplinary team, you will ensure safe and effective immediate post-operative care is delivered to patients within the operating department. We are therefore looking for applicants who possess the ability to work successfully, as part of this team. 

You will also have the responsibility of providing a high quality evidenced based individualised care for patients in the immediate post-operative period, you will assess care needs, develop, implement 
and evaluate their care without supervision.

Main duties of the job

The main duties for this position will include:

– Receiving patients from theatres

– Looking after patients in first stage recovery

– Administer the required medications and attend to any post operative complications

– Escalate clinical concerns to senior nurse in a timely fashion

– Liaising with wards for transfer of patients to wards post operatively

– Ensuring a safe environment in recovery room

– Topping up pharmaceutical products in recover when stocks run low

– Discharge patients to the wards

– Provide a detailed handover of operation details and post op instructions
