Meet and greet patients into the department

To work as a team

To ensure that notes are in the department and prepared correctly for procedures

To assist in the admission and discharge of patients

Have a comprehensive knowledge of computer systems

OCT and other basic tests such as BP, P, BM (with training)

Assist with IVT injections and work in theatre as runner when needed

The post holder will be expected to deliver elements of health and social care by having the knowledge and competence to provide the best care possible

Working as part of the ophthalmology nursing team delivering evidence based high quality care that focuses on the direct need of the patient

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • QCF Level 3 or equivalent qualifications/experience NVQ level 3 in Health & Social care related subjects or equivalent or clerical qualifications/experience Good knowledge of anatomy & physiology
  • Desirable criteria

  • All Wales HCSW induction framework
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of working as a HCSW /clerk without direct supervision in a clinical setting and being managed by a qualified practitioner. Good understanding of risk assessment and management
  • Skills

    Essential criteria

  • Evidence of Being able to provide wound care using aseptic technique ANNT Phlebotomy Basic observations The ability to communicate clearly and accurately. The ability to be adaptable to new and changing circumstances. The ability to work alone under supervision and to understand when to seek clinical advice and support from the qualified Nurses
  • Desirable criteria

  • Vital signs recording (BP pulse, temp, respirations, blood sugar) Venepuncture Routine ECG recording Urine testing Any other specific clinical skills at this level of practice pertaining to role as per service need Knowledge and understanding of clinic activities
