We are looking for an energetic and caring person to offer physical and practical support to a Family Support Worker (FSW). This role offers a variety of experiences and opportunities for your own learning and development.

Key areas of responsibilities:

  • You will provide support to the FSW when getting in and out of a car and wheelchair.
  • Driving to and from appointments/meetings and supporting into the venue safely.
  • Helping to put on callipers (walking aids).
  • Wheelchair transportation and supporting the FSW with use of a wheelchair when needed.
  • You will be responsible for helping with the preparation of resources of paperwork for visiting a family or attending a meeting.
  • Preparation and serving refreshments.
  • You will support safe access to toilets.
  • The role will require some administration such as taking notes in meetings and supporting with the use of a computer as required.
  • You will be required to carry out any other support duties as required by the FSW to enable them to carry out the role of FSW.
  • As part of your role, you will be required to undertake mandatory training which includes: Movement and Handling and/or Positive Behaviour Support training to help you support our service users and assess and reduce risks to yourself, colleagues and the service users.

    Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence, and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car (exceptions can be made for disabled applicants).

    Working pattern

    You will be required to work flexibly outside normal working hours to meet the needs of the Family Support Worker. Usual working pattern is Monday, Tuesday and half day Wednesday.
