NSS is seeking to appoint a registered Medical Practitioner (with a valid GMC License to Practise) to provide a public health perspective and work with colleagues within National Services Scotland (NSS) and across NHS Scotland who are responsible for commissioning, coordinating and delivering population screening (cancer and non-cancer) programmes in Scotland. This will include review of existing screening provision, assessment of future need and planning and implementing change that is agreed by the Scottish Screening Committee, NSS National Screening Oversight (NSO) and the NHS Boards. NSO is hosted separately in NSS, and NSD works closely with the oversight team across screening issues.

You will provide clinical governance and support to the NSD Screening team to respond to adverse events and to submit applications for commissioning to the National Specialist Services Committee.

You will work with public health and clinical teams involved in the oversight and delivery of screening programmes and with the senior clinical leaders and managers in NHS Boards responsible for the delivery of screening to their local populations.

You will develop and review meaningful quality and performance indicators and measurable objectives to provide assurance to the population of Scotland that all screening programmes are delivered to a high quality. This will include consideration of actions to ensure that screening does not create or increase inequalities.

As a member of the Medical Leadership team based in NSD you will have opportunity to work with a range of commissioning teams to provide public health leadership, for example, review health needs and assess clinical impact.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Candidates must have current GMC registration at the time of applying.

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
