This is an exciting opportunity to work at Suffolk New College at our Suffolk Rural campus in Otley as a Technician within the Motor Vehicle field. You will be required to provide a range of technical advice, support and practical assistance to our staff and students.  You will be responsible for preparing, maintaining the equipment and materials within the practical workspaces, alongside ensuring safe working practices.

As part of your role you will contribute to the wider College health and safety activity and therefore you should have a good understanding of health and safety and be prepared to undertake training in these areas e.g. first aid and fire marshall.

You will need to have an organised and methodical approach to ensure the smooth operations of the workspaces in order to support the delivery of an exceptional student experience. You will be able to communicate and engage with a range of audiences including young people and will work well both in a team and on your own initiative.

You should have a good standard of education including maths and English at level 2 (GCSE 4/C) and a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. The role will involve working in the Motor Vehicle area and therefore a specialism in Motor Vehicle and the supporting practical skills is required for the role.

This post is based at Suffolk Rural Campus in Otley. However Suffolk New College is a multi campus site therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses, including our On the Coast campuses in Halesworth and Leiston.

This College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  As part of our on-going commitment to Equality and Diversity, Suffolk New College guarantee to short list all applicants from a black or ethnic minority group who meet all of the essential criteria.  As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the vacancy.   All appointments are subject to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
