Library and Customer Assistants – Carlisle

Salary: £20043 (pro rata) / £10.39 per hour

Hours: 5 posts available – 1 x 15 hours 4 x 8 hours

Work base: Carlisle Library

Contract Details: Permanent

We are seeking to recruit energetic and highly motivated individuals with great customer service skills to work in our Libraries across Carlisle.

The role is extremely varied and requires individuals to –

  • Be the first point of contact for customers.
  • Provide information and deal effectively with customer enquiries including helping with IT enquiries – face to face over the phone written and digital:
  • Carry out general library duties help with the security of buildings and basic health & safety tasks.
  • Support a wide range of events and activities for all ages that may involve reading and singing.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Successful candidates will have experience of delivering excellent customer service and supporting others in achieving this effective communication skills you will enjoy working as part of a team and will have a positive outlook to service development and change.

    We are currently operating both in-person and virtual interviews. Options will be discussed with candidates once they have been invited to the interview stage of the process for this specific position and if you have any concerns or adjustments are needed we are happy to discuss.

    If you are invited to a virtual interview this will preferably be undertaken using the Microsoft Teams software which is currently free for new users however if there are any issues with accessing this technology we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements prior to the interviews.
