Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Gastroenterology Team within Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The post holder will be required to provide an accurate, confidential and supportive secretarial service to the department predominantly supporting the Consultants and Specialist Nurses with the Referral Management System (RMS) as well as processing patient letters, communicating with patients and other members of staff to maintain safe patient pathways.

The post holder will support the delivery of a comprehensive high quality medical secretarial administrative service as part of a team, providing cross cover during periods of staff absence and managing/prioritising workload to ensure the provision of all secretarial and administrative duties to support the Consultant/Clinical team.

Excellent written and communication skills, together with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines are essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • NVQ Business administration L4 of equivalent experience or City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration or equivalent medical secretary experience
  • RSA / OCR level 3 or equivalent experience or qualification in typing
  • ECDL or equivalent experience
  • Desirable criteria

  • Management qualification or working towards
  • NVQ 3 in Customer Service
  • ILM Level 2 (or working towards) relevant equivalent qualification
