Main duties of the job

  • To have delegated responsibility, in consultation with the Head of HealthPsychology, for the professional leadership, planning, systematic provision and review of Pain Management Clinical Psychology Services within the Eastarea of BCUHB.
  • To have responsibility for the professional leadership and management of clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists and psychological therapists within Pain ManagementClinical Psychology Services in the Eastarea of BCUHB.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Health Psychology, develop psychological therapies/interventions provision and ensure clinical governance processes are in place and implemented in the BCUHB East Pain Management Psychology Service.
  • To carry a highly specialist clinical caseload of clients with complex and enduring chronic pain psychological/mental health problems within EastBCUHB area.
  • To provide clinical supervision and support to Pain Management multi-disciplinary health professionals, as required.
  • To provide highly specialist advice and consultancy on Pain Management Psychology issues, both within the BCUHB and to outside agencies.

    Essential criteria

  • Appropriate experience of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, including substantial supervised post-qualification expertise and experience within physical health psychology
  • Sufficient experience to demonstrate a level of competence to satisfy the assessment requirements of two BPS/ACP-UK National Assessors in Clinical Psychology for entrance into Consultant Grade
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in Pain Management Psychology and/or related fields such as critical care or medical areas such as renal medicine or diabetes
