Main duties of the job

The post holder has managerial and leadership responsibility for the effective operational running of all the areas Acute Care services. The Acute Care Clinical Site Manager will have managerial responsibility for the effective operational running of a diverse portfolio that includes Acute Care inpatient services (adult and older persons), Home Treatment Team and Liaison Psychiatry.

The role will oversee both planned admissions and unscheduled care in relation to S136 and area Emergency Department presentations. The post holder will work with the Local multi-disciplinary leadership leads ensuring that patient flow is maximised, over the seven day period and plan contingencies for periods of high activity to ensure all teams are sufficiently staffed to support the acute care system. 

The post holder will be experienced in acute care assessment and treatment and have a good working knowledge of all clinical guidelines relevant to the acute care setting. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and / or Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • NMC Registered Mental Nurse
  • Relevant recent experience of working in an acute care setting assessing and delivering interventions
  • Educated to Masters Degree level or equivalent or working towards completion in 3 years / equivalent experience
  • Experience of acute care clinical assessments and pathways Significant relevant experience in a managerial post
  • Track record of significant continuous professional and management development
  • Experience of risk formulation

  • Recognised senior management training in leadership, policy or strategy/ equivalent experience

  • Experience in providing assessment and direct care for Acute Care presentations.
  • Demonstrates a good working knowledge and experience to include S136, crisis presentations, HTT and CMHT.
  • Up to date in all current issues related to professional mental health practice and health/social care service management
  • Provide strong leadership and significant acute care experience so that they can lead by example and work alongside the frontline team.
  • Significant, demonstrable experience of operational management in a clinical service in the NHS, including budgets and people information and quality
