Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a team with responsibility for the recruitment & selection of potential volunteers and all related administrative processes including interview and selection, arranging references, arranging online DBS checks and health screening.

Volunteers play an integral part in delivering services across the health board and we truly believe that volunteers complement our workforce in a variety of ways, adding value to the experience of patients and visitors. 

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to meet the needs of the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work as part of a team with responsibility for the recruitment & selection of potential volunteers and all related administrative processes including interview and selection, arranging references, arranging online DBS checks and health screening.

Through proactive engagement with volunteers ensure all activities meet with the Health Boards service needs and are carried out in line with Health Board policies and expected boundaries of volunteering.

Be the daily contact for the volunteers.

Provide regular contact and emotional support to all volunteers to encourage motivation, loyalty, and retention and ensure that their work is valued and celebrated.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous NHS/Public/Voluntary Sector experience.
  • Networking and working across organisational boundaries.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of coordinating volunteers
  • Experience in a Social Care or 3rd Sector setting
  • Other

    Essential criteria

  • Enthusiasm to develop new areas of work and improve patient experience.
  • Ability and experience to deal with a wide range of complex enquiries with confidence, patience and discretion.

  • Ability to work on own initiative to organise work with minimal supervision

  • To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa , unless you have permission to work via another route.
