Main duties of the job

The post holder will have the ability to act with a degree of independent judgement and under the guidance of the Team Leader will be responsible for assisting with the day to day supervision and coordination of the 10 team members whilst will playing an active role as a clinic clerk, and taking responsibility for an efficient administration service for Chemotherapy Patients, ensuring good standards of practice and deadlines are adhered to at all times.

Qualifications and or Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • GCSE Maths and English grade C and above or equivalent qualification or experience
  • IT related qualification CLAIT plus / ECDL or equivalent qualification or ability to demonstrate IT skills
  • OCR Level 2 Business Administration or equivalent qualification
  • OCR Level 3 NVQ in Customer Service or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent communication / customer care skills both written and verbal demonstrating sympathy and compassion.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own and others workload and use own initiative
  • Understanding of working in a supervisory role
  • Good organisational skills and ability to multitask
  • Good time management skills
  • Good knowledge and understanding of reception / office procedures.

  • Experience of working in a customer care focused environment
  • Knowledge of cancer issues
  • Knowledge of medical databases

  • Previous involvment with audit
  • Previous experience of working with clinical staff or in a health care setting
  • Ability to learn and understand medical terminology
