Main duties of the job

The post holder will work to provide strong and decisive clinical leadership, ensuring a professional, visible role model within the Safeguarding Team and the Health Board as a whole, providing specialist midwifery advice and implementing strategic midwifery and nursing policies into practice.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure that optimum care for women is provided, and ensure that the framework for governance is firmly embedded within the safeguarding service. A significant element of the role will be working in partnership within a multi-agency arena ensuring effective communication, learning and collaboration is progressed between BCUHB and partner agencies.

The post holder must be professionally registered and hold the essential qualifications and relevant safeguarding experience as listed in the Personal Specification. Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

  • First degree, Diploma or equivalent evidence of knowledge
  • Evidence of further post graduate study in the safeguarding speciality.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding issues related to pregnancy and the unborn/newborn baby
  • Experience of training development and delivery
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency setting
  • Experience of delivering clinical supervision
  • Desirable criteria

  • Masters level qualification in a professionally related subject or equivalent knowledge/ willing to work towards
