Youth Offending Team Officer

Salary: 31895 – 32798

The advertised salaries include a supplement (JWC) to the base grade of the post. JWC supplements are conditional on the physical demands and /or working conditions of the role.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Work base: The role will be based in Carlisle (East) Community Fire Station Eastern Way.

Contract Details: Permanent

This is an opportunity to join an established team working to improve outcomes for children and young people in the Carlisle and Eden area. You will work within the multi-agency Youth Offending Team to deliver effective youth justice services to children young people and their families aimed at preventing offending and re-offending including cases posing a high level of risk.

The role involves working with a varied caseload of young people subject to Criminal Justice Disposals and their families. You will be required to carry out detailed assessments and work with young people to develop plans prepare and maintain accurate written records and ensure the delivery of disposals imposed by the courts and police. You will also participate in a duty rota

undertaking core tasks of the YOT including work at Court and in Police Stations and prepare pre-sentence and other reports for the Courts.

The right candidate will have experience of working with and engaging hard to reach young people and their families. You will be able to take a strength-based approach to empower people to make changes while demonstrating persistence to overcome any problems. Experience of managing challenging behaviour and working with complex issues is important.

Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with Children. This role requires an enhanced DBS check with a Childrens Barred List check.
