Job Title: Data Governance Advisor

Location: Remote/ Brighton

Duration: Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Champion data governance and operational objectives, whilst promoting data governance excellence across the business.
  • Deliver and maintain data governance policies, procedures and standards.
  • Engage and influence Business Data Owners, to improve data governance practices and provide advice to improve understanding and develop and implement end-to-end data management processes and procedures across a range of business areas.
  • Identify risks requiring improvement and instigate root cause analysis where processes inhibit compliance with data governance policies.
  • Provide advice and support to Business Data Owners and stakeholders at all levels and develop data governance standards within their areas.
  • Implement data governance solutions and preventative measures and manage business owners to resolve their data governance issues as they occur.
  • Identify where processes and procedures require review, improvement or action.
  • Deploy internal auditing and reporting to measure business compliance and assess the maturity of the data estate.
  • Participate in industry data alliances and networks promoting excellence in Data Governance across Government.
  • Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of Data Governance theory, principles and approaches.
  • Experience in the use of data governance methodology to creatively problem solve, propose solutions and define benefits.
  • Experience providing assurance against corporate risks and auditing accountabilities, working in line with the Data Protection Officer.
  • Experience working in a technical environment delivering enterprise-wide data governance.
  • Experience working within a regulatory environment with knowledge of GDPR.
  • Understand data maturity and have knowledge of how to measure the benefits of data governance and show the value of a data governance function.
  • Well-versed in multiple delivery strategies such as Agile & Waterfall
  • To drive the value of continuous improvement and champion iterative development.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience in the implementation of a data-led culture.
