Main duties of the job

Performs a wide variety of routine and non-routine duties in relation to the preparation and supply of medicines and related products for service users within BCUHB.

The Pharmacy Technician is expected to exercise a degree of autonomy and control in the performance of allocated duties within limits set by the Senior Pharmacy Technician supervising the section and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Liaises with pharmacy staff in all sectors and other healthcare professionals to ensure a patient orientated medicines management service is provided. Works closely with pharmacy colleagues to adopt a team approach to medicines management, acting as a key member of the multidisciplinary and wider pharmacy team, providing medicines management advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Willing to undertake medicines management training
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (or equivalent)
  • Desirable criteria

  • Membership of relevant professional association

  • Participate in the provision of general extended hours pharmacy services and as necessary
