Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to function as an independent practitioner spending 20% of time in clinical practice, with responsibility for 
management of a caseload, providing expert clinical advice to maximise maternal health and wellbeing 
Work in collaboration with the appropriate Medical, Allied Health Care Professional, Public Health Service Wales and local authorities to 
meet the Public Health Agenda
Provide professional clinical leadership working in collaboration with the appropriate multi-disciplinary groups to meet the specific needs 
of pregnant women
Act as a role model for others by demonstrating a high degree of professional autonomy, depth and breadth of knowledge, skills and 
expertise within their sphere of practice
Using a variety of mechanisms such as audit and self reflection to critically evaluate and maintain their own practice and performance, 
with a particular emphasis on demonstrating measurable outcomes
 Be an expert in midwifery practice, taking a lead on regular reviews of the efficiency and efficacy of midwifery care pathways, working 
innovatively within the NMC Midwives Rules and Standards to make changes in practice to meet the best evidence available
Demonstrate advanced clinical skills and knowledge that inform practice
Provide expert advice to staff and ensure they are competent and capable to promote and develop maternal health and wellbeing
