To work as a member of the ward or department team in the delivery of high quality care to patients and to ensure that children and families have positive experience when attending a clinic.

This post is an apprenticeship; applicants will be expected to successfully complete the Senior Healthcare Support Worker level 3 apprenticeship course. Dedicated to the ongoing development of our staff, the Trust offers a wide range of opportunities for personal and professional growth, and at the end of your apprenticeship you will achieve a level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support. Applicants without level 2 English and Maths will be supported to achieve this level prior to taking their apprenticeship end-point assessment.

Eligibility for this apprenticeship

  • Applicants 18 years old or over.
  • Must have been resident in the UK / EU for the last 3 years (evidence needs to be provided)
  • If you already hold this level or higher level qualification in the same field, you are not eligible to apply for this position.
  • Continuation in the post will be subject to successful enrolment onto the apprenticeship within the first three months of employment, and will also be subject to you remaining on the course and successful completion.

    Main duties of the job

    To meet and greet children and families to the department and explain what is going to happen during their time within the department.

    To take height weight and head circumference measurements on each child coming for an appointment at the request of the nurse or doctor. To document these findings in the child electronic records or medical notes.

    To undertake vital signs i.e. TPR, oxygen saturations, blood pressure and urinalysis at the request of qualified nurse or doctor. To document these results in the child medical notes.

    To record and monitor vital signs if requested, recognise abnormalities and report findings to the medical team at Hackney Ark or in children’s OPD

    To prepare the clinic rooms in a timely manner ready for the next patient to arrive. To ensure that the room is kept tidy and well stocked.

    To print or order requests for investigations such as blood tests. Plus the proforma used in the medical notes.

    To clean toys as per the Toy Cleaning Policy.

    Maintain a safe and clean environment in accordance with infection control and risk policies.
