We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual to take on the role of Senior Anaesthetics/Operating Department Practitioner to provide leadership, management and support to the anaesthetics team leader and is responsible for the provision of patient care, ensuring that it is evidence based and of a high standard and to maintain 24hour responsibility for the clinical area.

We have at present nine surgical suites specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, HANS, Ear Nose & Throat, Dental and Max-fax. The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are enthusiastic, empathetic, professional, caring with a friendly bedside manner.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure that patients receive the necessary care and treatment intraoperatively and postoperatively. This will be achieved through the application of specialist knowledge, skills andpractice.

This role requires close working relationships with a wide range of the multi-disciplinary teams, the Consultants, Deputy Chief Nurse, Head of Nursing, Matrons, and the junior members of the team. In order to succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to have the ability to deal with challenging situations in a fast paced environment in a professional and calm manner.

Successful candidates will need to be Registered Nurses or Registered Operating Department Practitioners, and be able to demonstrate that they possess a commitment to maintaining a very high standard of patient care.
