An exciting Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse position have become available within Homerton Sexual Health Service (HSHS) which sits within a forward thinking wider multidisciplinary team across community and acute Homerton sites.

You will be an innovative practitioner with developed skills in sexual and reproductive health including ability to fit Sub-Dermal Implant contraceptive method. You will have good leadership and audit skills with knowledge of the current public health agenda as pertains to sexual health. You will have flexibility to work across our four clinical sites on a shift basis including some weekend working and outreach settings.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the cross site multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive nursing interventions aimed at clients with contraception and sexual health care needs.

The post holder will take an active role in the planning and provision of training of staff within the department working closely with the Charge Nurse in the implementation of national and local strategies in sexual and reproductive health services.

Will provide leadership, management and support to the cross site nursing team and help co- ordinate the day to day running of sexual health clinics as required

Will support clinic service developments such as evening, weekend and out-reach service provision as required

    Essential criteria

  • Ability to discuss and deliver contraceptive methods and deliver emergency contraception under PGD
  • Ability to deliver Sub-Dermal Contraceptive Implants
  • Ability to perform sexual health screens and microscopy
  • Desirable criteria

  • Counselling Skills
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Recent nursing experience as a staff nurse in a sexual health setting with achievement of competencies in symptomatic screening.
