Main duties of the job

The successful applicant must be able to work using their own initiative as well as be a team player, have good communication skills combined with a pleasant outgoing manner. Computer knowledge is essential including all windows applications (Word/Access/PowerPoint/Excel) and working with databases and specialist software.

Working closely with technical, medical and administrative staff, you will ensure patient confidentiality, comfort and safety at all times.

Qualifactions and or knowledge

Essential criteria

  • An undergraduate degree in clinical physiology or Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) or science related subject.
  • ARTP Part I & 2 qualification or ARTP Practitioner (Level 3) qualification.
  • BLS Resuscitation Council (UK) certificate.
  • Knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through accredited courses (e. g. ARTP lung function reporting course, ARTP respiratory muscle course, ARTP cardio pulmonary exercise testing and interpretation course, ARTP overnight oximetry and polygraphy certificate) or equivalent post graduate experience to diploma level.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • ILS or ALS Resuscitation Council (UK) certificate.
  • SCST certificate in electrocardiography qualification or willing to work towards.
  • RCCP/HCPC registration or willing to register.
  • Training/assessors qualification or certificate
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of performing a broad range of complex procedures across a range of clinical conditions.

  • Demonstrable CPET experience.

    Essential criteria

  • Excellent communication skills required to gain maximum co-operation from patient when performing complex lung function tests.
  • Excellent IT skills with the ability to use a range of software including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to perform, analyse and participate in reporting of routine and complex investigations.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and train staff and students with supervision and support where needed.
  • Ability to perform, analyse and participate in reporting of simple, specialised and complex investigations
