Main duties of the job

The EC Ward Clerk will be responsible for providing a professional, efficient, accurate and prompt administrative/clerical service to the Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) and Acute Medical Unit (AMU) to ensure the speedy admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.

By the nature of the duties, the Ward Clerk will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.

For accountability and development purposes, the Ward Clerk will be under the direct responsibility of the Service Support Manager – Emergency Care.

Essential criteria

  • English and Mathematics to GCSE C Grade or equivalent level
  • Desirable criteria

  • NVQ II Admin / Customer Care
  • ECDL
  • Experience

  • Previous clerical / office experience
  • Welsh Speaker – Minimum Level 3

  • Previous NHS experience
  • WPAS/iFIT User

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
