About the Group Leader – Process Chemistry position

We are looking for a skilled Group Leader in Process Chemistry who will assist in guiding and managing our team. You will line-manage operation of the technical teams to deliver excellent process research and development for our customers. Your goal will be leading by setting a good example and engaging the teams to help them achieve their goals. You should be proactive in order to ensure effective collaboration and optimise team operations.

CatSci Ltd, based in Cardiff, UK, is an expert service provider to the chemical research, development and manufacturing industries, specialising in the process research and development for manufacturing drug substance and other high value materials. CatSci Ltd has extensive knowledge and expertise in a wide range of chemistry from discovery support through to full scale manufacturing and life-cycle management.

Your Impact as Group Leader – Process Chemistry

  • Setting clear team goals and motivate team members

  • Helping to setup an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture

  • Overseeing daily operations, delegating tasks and setting deadlines

  • Demonstrating and delivering scientific excellence in your area of chemical expertise

  • Following external scientific and technological development in the area of small molecule chemical development

  • Discovering training needs and providing coaching

  • Interacting with team members to receive their feedback and help resolving any problems

  • Managing team performance and prepare reports on its metrics

  • Encouraging high performance, creativity and risk-taking

  • Developing and maintain team building activities

Requirements for Group Leader – Process Chemistry

  • A PhD in chemistry, or relevant discipline, with extensive experience in synthetic organic and process chemistry
  • Understanding of chemical synthesis and process chemistry, and experience within the pharmaceutical sector
  • People Management Experience 
  • Excellent practical knowledge of performance metrics
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strong decision-making, organisational and time-management skills

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: £47,000 – £56,000 per annum (depending on experience + negotiable)
