Main duties of the job

To provide temporary additional support into the persons home, community living environments, and other related community locations. To support the person with learning disabilities and staff teams to implement Positive Behaviour Support and Active support under the direction of the Behaviour Analsyt / ANP

To ensure that service users are treated with respect and dignity ensuring that equality, diversity and rights are promoted.

To provide hands on direct support to service users including facilitating all aspects of daily living such as supporting service users in meeting personal care needs; washing and dressing, shopping and preparing food; household domestic and leisure activities, and accessing community activities. The above will be achieved through the implementation of all aspects of the Active Support Model including following structured activity schedules, support protocols, opportunity plans and structured teaching.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

1x permanent post

3x fixed term for 12 months due to the needs of the service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Understanding of the principles of Positive Behaviour Support
  • NVQ level 3 promoting independence or equivalent.
  • BTEC Certificate in PBS training will be provided
  • Understand issues relating to people with learning disabilities such as the principles or ordinary living and living closer to home

  • Aptitude and Abilities

  • Are able to demonstrate that they can communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use laptop to access email and use word and excel.
  • Must be comfortable to work effectively with people with learning disabilities by establishing rapport and providing all forms of care according to need.

  • It is a special requirement for the post holder to be able to travel within the geographical area of North Wales Able to work hours flexibly.
  • To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa , unless you have permission to work via another route.
