QA/QC Manager

The Role
We are recruiting for a QA/QC Manager to work for the EPC on a large-scale Open Cycle Gas Turbine project based in Eye (Suffolk). The QA/QC Manager will be responsible for implementing the Project Quality Plan in line with project specifications, erection procedures, inspections and test Plans (ITP’s), plus they will create a project quality culture to all members.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensures understanding and implements the Clients and the Project’s Quality Standards
  • Monitors and supports Quality Control activities
  • Reviews the specifications in terms of Project’s Quality requirements
  • Responsibility of the implementation of the Project Quality Plan at site using tools such as project’s specifications, erection procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and method statements (MSs).
  • Coordinate with the site Quality team and the Site Management.
  • Responsible for the inspection of the activities of the subcontractors and as specified within the ITPs and Project Quality Plan for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical works.
  • Verifies that inspections are performed to the extent defined within the ITPs, by qualified staff, with calibrated equipment, as required.
  • Issuance of relevant Notifications of Inspection (NOIs) to the Client and maintains a relevant register file for the progress of inspections.
  • Responsible for the collection and review of the relevant reports or other documentation produced by the subcontractors during the inspections.
  • Participates to Witness Inspections and Coordination of 3rd Party Inspections on site
  • Reviews Tests’ Reports.
  • Provides suggestions for improvement, using tools such as NCRs output, lessons learnt, etc.
  • Informs the SM and PM for any non-conformity observed.
  • Monitors the progress of corrective actions and confirms the actions taken to close the NCRs to the QM.
  • Performs / participates to the final walk downs with the Customer, Subcontractor(s), Construction Engineers etc. and verifies the recording of observations (punch items) that may have occurred after the walk down of the inspectors in the relevant list.
  • Informs the Client’s Head Offices of the Progress of the activities and reports of quality issues at site.
  • Liaises with the Site Manager for ensuring the compliance of Sub-contractors with their contractual requirements
  • Supports the Site QA/QC team on the preparation of Erection ITPs and relevant QA/QC documentation
  • Supports the Site QA/QC team on technical aspects related to Quality Control
  • Leading daily and weekly site quality meetings with the subcontractors.
  • Participates in daily/weekly/monthly internal or with the Client site meetings
  • Contributes to Project monthly reporting in respect of the QA/QC activities
  • Participation in the TOP procedure for the Commissioning
  • Follows / implements the Project Audit Program
  • Makes Audit reporting to the Project Manager and the Quality Department
  • Creates a Project Quality culture to all team members
  • Requirements and Skills:

  • University degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Solid experience in similar position within the heavy industries i.e. Power Plants and Oil & Gas
  • Familiar with Codes, Regulations and Standards related to Oil & Gas, Power Plants and Industrial Projects such as ASME, API, EN , PED, PESR(UKCA), ATEX, Welding Standards, Coatings, IEC etc.
  • Solid experience on ISO QMS
  • Excellent knowledge of English language
