Main duties of the job

This unique position is to provide a specialist rheumatology and dermatology pharmacy service for patients in North West Wales. This will include delivering professional and expert advice on medicines, service provision and access to medicines as well as promoting the safety and governance of rheumatology & dermatology medicines. The post-holder will work closely with other Specialist Pharmacists across BCUHB.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to form good working relationships with members of the multi disciplinary team. It is essential that good clinical governance is practiced e.g. by monitoring and performing regular audits on prescribing, directing colleagues to relevant prescribing updates and demonstrating an in-depth understanding of biological medicines and traditional treatment options for managing disease from the legal, patient safety and financial aspects of the role.

The pharmacist will be an integral part of the Specialist rheumatology & dermatology team working collaboratively with other Healthcare Professionals to deliver optimal care to patients across care settings.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • MPharm degree or equivalent
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification (or working towards)
  • Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy
  • Good verbal/written communication skills IT literate Decision-making ability Problem solving skills Demonstrate ability to influence and negotiate within a multidisciplinary team setting
