Main duties of the job

The post involves undertaking visual field assessments and diagnostic imaging using the Humphrey Field Analyser, the OCT and ocular cameras in patients of all ages particularly the elderly and sight impaired. In house training on anatomy and physiology, ocular conditions and use of the machines will be provided. Previous experience within the eye clinic, or busy out-patient clinics is strongly advisable.

We are a busy department based in the eye clinic at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital where duties will include the full range of field and imaging assessments. The team provides the Orthoptic service to a range of hospital and community clinics in Anglesey and Gwynedd. We are looking for flexible minded candidates with initiative, to work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide seamless delivery of care to patients across acute and community settings.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of skills involved in patient care
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience within an outpatient clinical setting involving direct patient care
  • Ability & willingness to undergo the required training
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Communication

  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and written
