Main duties of the job

Provide efficient administrative support, to create a personal portfolio for each non-training grade doctor in line with standards as dictated by the GMC (General Medical Council) with regard to Appraisal and Revalidation.

The post demands utmost confidentiality and the ability to deal with a variety of stakeholder queries both internal and external to the Health Board. This is a unique position dealing with sensitive and confidential information on a regular basis that will be provided at appraisal meetings, the post holder will be able to exercise judgement involving facts/situations which may need some analysis.

The post holder will work in collaboration with key stakeholders to implement and monitor effective appraisal processes for the non-training grades and improve engagement in the appraisal process. Organise and deliver training sessions to doctors as required.

This could be group sessions or on a one-to-one basis.The post holder will need excellent Microsoft Office skills with the need for accuracy when producing reports and documents for the Revalidation Manager and other stakeholders. There will be significant variations in the workload, which will be assessed within their personal reviews/audits. Undertake local and national projects related to appraisal and revalidation as required.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ level 3 Business Administration/Secretarial procedures or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working within a clinical support role within the NHS.
  • Ability to work unsupervised Ability to compile and present talks/teaching sessions both internal and external to the UHB

  • Ability to speak welsh or a willingness to achieve an appropriate level of competence.
