As part of Benefits and Exchequer Services an opportunity has arisen for a high calibre, motivated and customer focused person, to join our Local Taxation Team as a Business Rates Assistant.

Reporting directly to the Control Officer, the post holder will assist a highly motivated team working in a challenging role, to effectively deliver Benefits & Exchequer Services that are of the highest standards, cost effective and efficient.

Control Section duties include a wide range of administrative tasks, including bank and cash reconciliation, in order to provide a quality service to support the work of the Benefits and Exchequer Service and the Council as a whole. It deals with payment queries relating to Council Tax, Business Rates and Miscellaneous Income accounts and reconciles data from different computer systems.

The ability to deal courteously and effectively with both internal and external customers in writing and over the telephone and an ability to handle figures and other data quickly and accurately is essential. Experience of reconciling and balancing reports would be an advantage.

· Excellent communication skills

· A good track record of working under pressure and achieving deadlines

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
