Part of NWS’ mission is to deliver a Geological Disposal Facility and provide radioactive waste management solutions. The GDF will play an important role in resolving the long-outstanding environmental issue of how we safely dispose of legacy and future nuclear waste. It will be one of the most significant national infrastructure projects in the UK and will create investment and employment opportunities which will last for decades.

As a Grants Officer, you will be part of a key team that serves as a link between those communities and RWM, providing support with the management and delivery of RWM’s community investment funding activities in a Community Partnership Search Area. As a Grants Officer, you will;

  • Provide support to enable a local Community Partnership to administer and disburse community investment funding effectively.
  • Support the Grants Manager in the development of positive local relationships within communities that engage with the Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) siting process.
  • The role will be working within a Community Investment Funding and Community Partnership strategy to help address some of the challenges that communities in the area face.
  • As part of the Community Investment Team, the role will support colleagues as necessary and requires the ability to learn and follow operational procedures

Skills and Experience

  • Good administrative skills, including meeting deadlines and prioritising workload
  • Experience/ knowledge of grant making/community engagement/outreach activities
  • Experience/ knowledge of partnership working
  • Strong customer-facing skills and demonstrating empathy in dealing with external stakeholders
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • An eye for detail and able to produce, analyse and proofread reports/communications to a high standard of accuracy
  • Broad IT experience e.g., use of customer management systems, grant administration software and CRM Databases
