About the role

Balfour Beatty VINCI are seeking a Temporary Works Design Engineer to join them on HS2! You will be working with a highly experienced team on the mainline in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver a fully integrated and coordinated Temporary Works (TW) design ready for construction to meet project requirements under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Supporting the Senior Temporary Works Designer in developing designs for temporary works. Development of preliminary scheme designs and full detailed design,
  • Carry out temporary works designs on a range of temporary works both above and below ground.
  • Work alongside and in conjunctions with CAD Technicians and other junior temporary works designers and technicians to deliver designs to the required quality.
  • Ensure design risks are identified and managed in the CDM Design Risk Register.
  • Ensure the design meets the HS2 Environmental Minimum Requirements, including all requirements for environmental mitigation.
  • Designs to be fully compliant with the TW Design Brief, Works Information, Contract Requirements Technical (CRT) and Technical Standards.
  • Ensure Technical Queries are raised in a timely manner and seek early resolution to avoid impact on the design programme.
  • Work closely with the Senior Temporary Works Designers and the Temporary Works design Leads to ensure designs are shared externally where necessary.
  • Ensure work is undertaken in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan, ensuring that design information conforms to the necessary standards and can be shared for use in 4D and 5D planning and cost estimation.
  • Who we’re looking for

  • TW design experience working on major infrastructure projects is ideal
  • Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations, in particular, the Designer role is beneficial
  • Civil Engineering qualification or equivalent work experience
