The Role

We are looking for an accomplished Practice Manager to join our team at Ardene House Veterinary Practice. This is an operational management role with main responsibilities around ensuring that the practice runs professionally and efficiently. This position is based mainly at our busy, multidisciplinary Veterinary Hospital in Kingswells with responsibility for our branch surgery in Bridge of Don. The hospital has small animal, farm and equine departments. The successful candidate would be involved in the operational management of all three departments. The role would include leadership and support of departmental teams, liaising with the clinical directors and working alongside the management team. Achieving financial targets, organising maintenance and repair within the sites, line management, health and safety, public relations and delivering excellent patient and client care are some of the components of this challenging role

Rota and Salary

  • Ideally a 40 hour week working 8am – 5pm daily
  • Up to £35,000 negotiable D.O.E

    The veterinary team consists of eight small animal, four farm animal and five equine vets. We also have eight registered veterinary nurses, three animal care assistants and ten office / reception staff. We are an aspirational high quality veterinary hospital based in purpose-built premises located in a pleasant area within the western suburbs of Aberdeen. We have large premises with ample onsite parking. Our small animal facilities include a spacious reception area, dedicated consultation rooms for vets and nurses, two theatres with prep rooms, dental room, radiography, CT scanner and laboratory. We have excellent hospitalisation facilities for all species. The equine department has six stables, treatment room, theatre, radiography, and a sand school for lameness workups.

    Applicant requirements

    Veterinary practice management requires diligence, objectivity, and confidentiality. Excellent IT skills, budget knowledge, experience of line management and use of client and staff management systems are essential. HR experience would be advantageous though we do have excellent employer and employee advisory services provided centrally. An ability to work in a fair, consistent and resilient manner within a high-pressure environment, both individually and as part of the management team will be important for this position.
