Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Emergency Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Practitioner/Paramedic practitioner who is committed to working as part of our MIU Team delivering an excellent, caring service to our patients. We have a diverse multi-skilled multi-disciplinary team consisting of Doctors, Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioners, ENPs Nurses, Assistant Practitioners and Heath Care Assistants. The successful candidate will undertake assessment, diagnosis, treatment/referral and discharge of patients with minor illness and injury.

The Practitioners/Clinicians manage these Patients who present to the MIU with an undifferentiated diagnosis through a process of assessment, formulation of a clinical management plan and on to discharge or transfer for definitive care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Successful Completion of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner Course in Minor Injuries at Level 6,7
  • Working towards an accredited course at Level 6,7 in Minor Illness or a willingness to undertake
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS)
  • Successful Completion of the Non-Medical Prescribing Course (NMP), or working towards, willing to undertake
  • Desirable criteria

  • Postgraduate teaching qualification
  • Research, Audit skills

    Essential criteria

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Minor injuries and Minor illness (if applicable)
  • Evidence of maintaining clinical expertise
  • Knowledge of local and national policy relating to service provision for ENPs in ED
  • Knowledge of own professional body (NMC) in respect of Professional standards of practice and conduct for registered nurses
  • Portfolio of clinical competence
  • Evidence of knowledge, understanding of collaborative practice and ability to apply to practice
  • To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa , unless you have permission to work via another route.
