Main duties of the job

The post holder will have regular access to clinical supervision from senior staff, as well as providing supervision to HCSWs and junior staff. An active part of the role is providing training, advice and information provided to wider professionals. 

A range of community work will be undertaken, including assessment for Autism for under 5s, as part of a multi professional team, specialist assessment to formulate interventions, strategies and care plans. Areas include development, play skills, early communication and behaviour; challenging behaviour, contribute to autism and ADHD assessment in children with complex cognitive disabilities, accessing health services. These interventions can be delivered through group work; individual 1:1 work; working as part of the MDT as well as alone; and the successful applicant will need to be familiar with the Continuing Care Health funding process. 

Service development is an active part of the role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • NMC Registered LD Nurse or registered nurse with relevant post registration experience
  • Desirable criteria

  • Any additional relevant formal training within the area of childrens disabilities or CAMHs
  • Experience

  • Significant post registration experience in a relevant role

  • Experience working with children with disabilities and their carers / families
  • Knowledge

    Essential criteria

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the range, nature and impact of learning disabilities and associated conditions

  • Detailed knowledge of an area common to learning disabilities services e.g. epilepsy, PMLD, Applied Behavioural Analysis principles
