We are looking for an experienced Nurse with excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team of educators.

The primary role of the Nurse Education Facilitator will be to support overseas international nurses in gaining the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) which is the final step in joining the NMC register and working as a registered nurse here in BCU. The post holder in conjunction, with local Practice Development Nurses will also provide education support to help them settle into their new role.

Teaching OSCE clinical skills training for the International Nurse Recruits, is a key part of the role, therefore current clinical knowledge is essential as is the ability to supervise and assess others in line with NMC standards. OSCE Training will be provided for the successful candidate/s in one of the three National OSCE training centres. The role will require the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure at times, problem solve and work efficiently with teams across the Health Board.

This post is fixed term for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Prime focus of this role is to develop, deliver, facilitate and evaluate overseas Nursing programme with specific focus on the Objective Structured Clinical Examination  ( OSCE) educational provision to meet NMC requirements.

To assist with empowering and enabling the ward/department teams to ensure that patient care is delivered to the highest standards of care, utilising research and evidence-based practice, in line with BCUHB Nursing Policies and Procedures and N.M.C. Code of Practice and professional standards and guidance.

To undertake clinical practice, working competently alongside non-registered, and pre/ post registration staff, providing supervision, teaching and assessment of competency where required.

To be responsible for the assessment of patients nursing care needs, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care to meet those nursing needs.

To develop, facilitate, deliver and evaluate a range of multi-professional programmes and teaching sessions to improve the quality of the patient experience health board wide, in accordance with a range of national objectives and organisational goals.

 To be an role model within specific professional field, and to work with staff in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new and essential skills and knowledge that will enable them to provide high quality care to our patients in line with the values of the Health Board.

To support Health Care Assistants, pre and post registration staff, in their personal and professional development and organisational objectives. Providing comprehensive and constructive feedback / criticism where required, and escalating concerns to the appropriate manager.

To ensure that the principles that guide staff development reflect the Health Boards commitment to quality, safety and patient experience, and that these are embedded into clinical practice.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria

  • REGISTERED NURSE. Evidence of nursing related qualification to degree level
  • Teaching/assessing qualification to Postgraduate Diploma Level (Level 6) or equivalent
  • EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrates enthusiasm towards teaching and sharing knowledge

  • IT literate and able to deduce key points from numerical data.
