Main duties of the job

As a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician your role will be to work within the Pharmacy team whilst working with a multi-disciplinary team of health and wellbeing professionals to deliver high quality services to patients. A key role for this post will be the dispensing of medication for men to self administer and providing support and information to help them manage this. Medication will also be supplied to the house blocks for supply by healthcare staff on a daily basis.

This is a rewarding role for an individual who is an excellent communicator, confident and able to deliver a pharmacy service across Primary Care, Integrated Substance Misuse & Mental Health Services. You will partake in an on-going programme of development to ensure high standards of patient care are maintained, whilst fostering effective working relationships with HMPPS, prison colleagues and other stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of routine and non-routine duties in relation to the preparation and supply of medicines and related products for service users within HMP Berwyn.

The Pharmacy Technician is expected to exercise a degree of autonomy and control in the performance of allocated duties within limits set by the Chief Pharmacy Technician supervising the section and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

To comply with GPHC Code of Conduct and work within HMP Berwyn and BCUHBs identified policies, protocols and guidelines and comply with the security requirements at all times.

Work in partnership with service users, other health and social care colleagues and services internal and external to HMP Berwyn, including the National Offender Management Service staff as appropriate, to achieve the optimum health outcome for service users and contributing to reducing reoffending pathways.
