Band 5 Staff Nurse Health Visiting 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 5 staff nurse to work within Denbighshire Flying Start team. The Welsh Government Flying Start Programme is a Welsh Government priority as part of the Tackling Poverty Agenda.
The programme has 4 key elements:
An Enhanced Health Visiting Service
Free quality part-time childcare for 2-3 year olds
Access to parenting programmes
Speech, Language and communication support
The post will support the Health Visitors to deliver an enhanced service and also provide an opportunity for nurses considering a career in Health Visiting to gain experience.

The post will initially be in Flying Start but as service needs change the post holder may be required to move to another team within the Health Visiting Service.

The post will be based initially in the Flying Start offices at Rhyl Leisure Centre, Denbighshire. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Evidence of ongoing education & professional development. Maintenance of professional Development.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Paediatric Experience. Supervision of staff Implementation of new ideas/practices. Experience of Assessing & learning and mentoring Student nurses.
  • Aptitude and Abilities

    Essential criteria

  • Aware of current research. Time management skills. Assertive. Self motivator. Conflict resolution. Problem solving skills. Knowledge of Safeguarding & consent. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to recognise strengths and weaknesses.

  • Ability to speak or understand the Welsh Language. Desire and motivation to apply for the SCPHN course. Paediatric clinical knowledge. Ability to delegate Ability to maintain standards Ability to teach others Ability to work effectively in a team
