Main duties of the job

To summarise and read code relevant information from patients medical records onto the practice clinical IT system (EMIS/VISION), working in accordance with the practice notes summarising protocol.

Undertake any secretarial and clerical duties required by the Senior Leadership Team including any non-clinical administration duties as requested by the team.

Proficient IT skills (including experience of Microsoft office) is also required as the post holder will also be undertaking a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the practices, including some data inputting. Audio typing and knowledge of medical terminology would also be an advantage.

Through correspondence and telephone queries, deal with patients, relatives, carers, GPs etc, promptly and efficiently exercising own judgement to resolve patient queries within their professional constraints.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 in Administration or equivalent
  • Up to date Knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection and the NHS Information Governance agenda
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Experience / Skills

  • Previous experience of working within a GP Practice
  • Experience of working with a GP Practice Clinical IT System (EMIS/Vision)
  • Experience of using GP Clinical IT system read-codes
  • Be able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when working with others
  • Sensitive and professional approach to dealing with patients/public
  • Ability to work in a team/work unsupervised
