As part of ensuring we have a workforce for the future the Trust is delighted to be participating in the training of our future Nursing Associates. These posts have been designed to meet the future healthcare needs. Nursing associates will work alongside the current clinical teams to deliver hands on patient care.

Throughout the two year apprenticeship you’ll continue to work in your substantive area but may be deployed elsewhere on obtaining your registration depending on vacancies and service needs. 500 hours of external placements are required throughout the training.

Main duties of the job

Apprentice Nursing Associates will remain employed by the Trust in their current post but be paid at Band 3 in recognition of the training and further education you will be undertaking. All of your education costs will be funded by the Trust.

You will also be supported by a Practice Facilitator during your training programme who will facilitate your placements and provide oversight,

To be considered for interview you must currently be employed within the organisation in a substantive Band 2 or 3 Health Care Assistant post within the acute/rehab wards or community services and have the full support of your line manager and senior nurse.

You must also hold a valid visa (lasting at least three years from start date) if applicable and have 3 years UK residency. Original documents will need to be brought to interview as demonstration of the above.

You will need to have completed the care certificate.

You will need to be up to date with your mandatory training.

  • Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English that can be evidenced
  • Working as a health care assistant at the Homerton University Hospital
  • Working within an acute/rehab or community setting
  • Able to work fully flexible shift pattern
  • Is up to date with mandatory training
  • Has completed Care Certificate
  • General Guidance for Applicants
