The Role

Pride Referrals have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Theatre Nurse to join their dedicated team. The role is equally split across the provision of anaesthesia and theatre/surgical nursing.

Whist carrying out the anaesthesia role you will work closely with a team of 6 specialist anaesthetists, providing a high standard of anaesthesia for a variety of different cases including orthopaedics, soft tissue, medicine, ophthalmology and neurology. Working closely alongside them allows you to gain the knowledge and experience needed to provide gold standard care for each of our patients.

Working as a circulating theatre nurse, you will be preparing each theatre for surgery, providing the correct equipment, preparing the patient and colleagues for surgery, assisting during the procedures and helping to maintain sterility throughout the procedure.

This role would be suited to a newly qualified nurse or a first opinion nurse wishing to expand their skills and knowledge in referral anaesthesia and theatre. Experience in referral theatre is not necessary, as you will be provided with a full induction training program that will provide you with both knowledge and support for this role.

All nurses who have been qualified for less than 1 year will also be enrolled onto the IVC referral nursing academy. This is a 12-month course that provides additional support for newly qualified nurses and covers a range of different modules, including anaesthesia, clinics and laboratory work. Enrolment onto the academy course also ensures you receive a 12-month membership to BVNA and the opportunity to attend the BVNA congress.

You will also be assigned an in-house mentor who will support you through your course and will provide in-house training on the job.

The role is full-time, working a 4-day week (averaging 38hrs per week) with a 1:6 weekend rota. Once fully trained, you would be expected to join our on-call rota approximately once a week.
